What are the two sites?

MedSpaVendorGuide is a directory of the companies that sell to med spas, written for the people who run them: software, marketing agencies, financing, insurance, training and suppliers.

Capterra is a software review and comparison marketplace, and it has a Medical Spa Software category.

That category page listed 142 products when we read it, a self-reported count.

MedSpaVendorGuide lists software vendors too, alongside the agencies, financing, insurance, training and suppliers a med spa also hires.

How does each site make money?

Capterra makes money through referral fees from software and service providers that sign up for sponsored profiles or sales lead qualifications.

Setting up a product or service profile on Capterra is free, and Capterra says it lists all software and service providers, not just those that pay it.

Capterra says buyers pay nothing for its advisor service.

MedSpaVendorGuide lists a vendor for free, and a vendor can pay $99 a month for a Featured listing: a labelled position above the ranked list in its category, a logo and a longer description in its own words.

Payment never changes a score, a fact or a place in the ranked list, and the site does not use affiliate links or sell leads.

How are listings ordered?

Capterra says sponsored profiles may appear first on its listings, and that sorting and filtering options let a buyer reorder the list.

Capterra says a sponsored profile shows buttons such as "Visit Website", "Try for Free" or "Book Demo".

MedSpaVendorGuide sorts every category list by score, then by name, and no vendor can pay to move.

Where do the facts come from?

Capterra's category page says provider data is verified by its Software Research team and reviews are moderated by its Reviews Verification team.

It also says its user reviews, review verification process, editorial content and research are independent of whether providers pay.

MedSpaVendorGuide takes every fact from the vendor's own website, saves the page, and shows the exact words, the link and the date next to the fact.

When a vendor's site does not say something, the profile says "Not published", and prices and terms are never estimated.

The score is computed from yes or no checks on what each vendor publishes, and it measures how much a buyer can check before a sales call, not how good the product is.

On reviews the difference is blunt: Capterra collects user reviews that it says its Reviews Verification team moderates, while MedSpaVendorGuide publishes no reviews of its own and never mixes third-party review ratings into the score.

What does each cover?

Capterra's Medical Spa Software category page listed 142 products when we read it, a self-reported count.

MedSpaVendorGuide covers software plus the companies around a med spa: agencies, financing, insurance, training and suppliers.

Each MedSpaVendorGuide profile shows a "Last checked" date, the day the vendor's pages were last read, and corrections are free.

Capterra's category page also offers a free 15-minute consultation with a Capterra advisor.

Which site should a med spa owner use?

If the question is what other users think of a product, Capterra is the site with that evidence: user reviews it says are moderated and independent of payment.

If the question is what a vendor charges and what its contract says, MedSpaVendorGuide links each published fact to the page on the vendor's own site where it was read, and says Not published where the vendor's site is silent.

MedSpaVendorGuide also covers the buying that is not software, such as an agency, a financing company or an insurer.

If you are comparing software first, practice management software is one of the ranked categories on this site, and the rubric behind every score is published on how we score.

Neither site replaces the other.

MedSpaVendorGuide is free to read, and Capterra says buyers pay nothing for its advisor service.

MedSpaVendorGuide is published by Gabe Meierotto, who also owns More Booked Consults and AestheticHires; both are listed in the directory, labelled owned by the publisher of this site, and scored by the same checks as every other vendor.

No. Each profile lists the prices, terms and services a vendor publishes on its own website, and says Not published where the site is silent. Can a vendor pay to rank higher on either site?

On Capterra, sponsored profiles may appear first on its listings, and a sponsored profile shows a button such as Visit Website, Try for Free or Book Demo; Capterra says its reviews and research are independent of whether providers pay. On MedSpaVendorGuide, lists are sorted by score and then by name, payment never changes a score, a fact or a place in the ranked list, and a paid Featured listing sits in its own labelled position above the list.

Who runs MedSpaVendorGuide?

Gabe Meierotto publishes MedSpaVendorGuide and also owns two of the listed companies, a marketing consultancy and a job board for aesthetic practices. Both carry an owned-by-the-publisher label, go through the same yes or no checks as every other vendor, and are sorted by the same rule. The site says plainly that it is not an independent review site and does not claim to be one.
