How do med spa legal and compliance vendors charge?
The category mixes law firms, medical director matching services, telehealth exam providers, compliance software and template sellers, and they charge in different units:
- Monthly membership. Bryant Taylor Law charges a flat $97/mo for its Legal Edge template membership. Spakinect starts at $99/mo plus a fee per patient evaluation. Medical Director Co. matches practices with medical directors from $799/mo.
- Subscription plus a fee per exam. Med Spa Oversight starts at $89/mo plus $35 for each good faith exam.
- Annual membership with prepaid hours. Lengea Law bills legal memberships annually, starting at $399/mo for $5,000+ in prepaid legal hours.
- Pay per consultation. Qualiphy charges $27.99 per consultation with no subscription.
- One-time purchase. MedSpa Standards sells SOP templates at $97 each, in kits at $197 to $397, or as a complete suite for $997.
- Flat project fee. Edmonds Law Office lists a $10,000 one-time Practice Launch Package and a $50,000 flat 12-month general counsel package.
- Custom fee or hourly. ByrdAdatto sells its Access+ program at a customized fixed monthly fee with no hourly billing. Jackson LLP Healthcare Lawyers bills open-ended work hourly in 6-minute increments. LDG, PLLC bills hourly or by flat fee and requires a retainer before work starts.
What do they cost per month?
5 of the 22 publish a monthly starting price in dollars, from $89/mo to $799/mo:
| Vendor | Published starting price | What the price covers | Minimum term as stated |
|---|---|---|---|
| Med Spa Oversight | $89/mo plus $35 per good faith exam | Nurse practitioner good faith exams by phone or video, clearance records, secure storage | None stated; cancel at any time |
| Bryant Taylor Law | $97/mo | Legal Edge membership: 50+ med spa legal templates, member portal, FAQ vault, self-assessment tools | Not published |
| Spakinect | $99/mo plus per patient evaluations | Telehealth good faith exams and patient-specific orders | Not published |
| Lengea Law | $399/mo, billed annually ($4,788/year) | $5,000+ in prepaid legal hours, extra hours at 5% off, up to 20 downloadable templates a year | 12 months |
| Medical Director Co. | $799/mo | Medical director or collaborating physician match, supervising physician contracts, collaborative agreements | No long-term contract |
Three notes on that table. Bryant Taylor Law's site says the membership does not create an attorney-client relationship. Med Spa Oversight's full medical oversight service runs $599 to $899/mo and adds medical director oversight, compliance consultation, chart audits, clinical protocols and a HIPAA compliant EMR. Lengea Law's higher tiers are $499/mo and $999/mo, both billed annually.
3 more publish prices that are not monthly: Qualiphy at $27.99 per consultation, MedSpa Standards with one-time purchases from $97 to $997, and Edmonds Law Office at $10,000 for its launch package or $50,000 for a year of general counsel.
These prices cover different services, and the per-exam fees grow with the number of exams you route. Work out your monthly exam count before comparing the low headline numbers.
Which vendors do not publish a price?
These 14 of the 22 do not publish a price: Aesthetic Compliance Experts, ByrdAdatto, Collaborating Docs (CollabDocs), Compliancy Group, Concierge Healthcare Attorneys, LLC, GuardianMD, Healthcare Compliance Pros, Jackson LLP Healthcare Lawyers, LDG, PLLC, Maureen West & Associates, LLC, MedSpa Advisor, Moxie, Texas Med Spa Consulting and Directorship and Weitz Morgan PLLC.
What they say instead varies. GuardianMD describes a flat monthly subscription billed on a rolling calendar month, with no setup fees, but no amount. Collaborating Docs charges an initial onboarding fee, amount not listed, then a monthly fee based on your state and services. ByrdAdatto says Access+ is a predictable monthly fee set after a discovery call. Aesthetic Compliance Experts lists a Comprehensive Compliance Package, covering an OSHA manual, a HIPAA manual and two binders, with the price not listed. Weitz Morgan PLLC prices med spa formation work as a flat fee, without the amount. Concierge Healthcare Attorneys, LLC describes a phone call within 24 hours, then an engagement agreement and retainer letter, with no amounts published. Healthcare Compliance Pros, Maureen West & Associates, MedSpa Advisor and Moxie publish no pricing details on the pages we checked.
A private price is not a sign of a bad product. It does mean any number you get will come from the vendor, not the website, so get it in writing before you compare it with anything in the table above.
What costs sit behind the headline price?
Setup and onboarding. 6 of the 22 state a policy. Lengea Law charges a $499 one-time initiation fee on all memberships. Collaborating Docs charges an initial onboarding fee it does not price on its site, and LDG, PLLC requires a retainer before work starts, amount not listed. GuardianMD, Medical Director Co. and Qualiphy state there is no setup fee. The rest do not state a policy, so ask before you sign.
Usage on top of the fee. Med Spa Oversight adds $35 for each good faith exam, and Spakinect adds per patient evaluation fees, in both cases on top of the membership. Qualiphy charges medication, labs and other tangible costs separately.
Work outside the scope. Lengea Law bills hours beyond the prepaid amount at a membership discount, and lists a paid consultation of up to one hour at $800. Jackson LLP states that any task outside a flat-fee scope is billed hourly or as a new flat-fee project.
Rate changes and payment mechanics. GuardianMD states fees may change with 60 days' notice, and Compliancy Group states its fees may change no more than once every twelve months. ByrdAdatto states its rates are fixed with no discounts and payment is by automated payments, not credit card or check.
How long will you be locked in?
5 of the 22 state a minimum term, and only one states a long one. Lengea Law's memberships have a 12-month minimum term and are non-refundable. The other four do not ask for a commitment: Medical Director Co. states no long-term contract and no termination fees, Med Spa Oversight states subscriptions can be cancelled at any time, MedSpa Standards sells one-time purchases, and Qualiphy states there is no subscription.
9 of the 22 publish how cancellation works. Rules worth reading closely:
- GuardianMD requires cancellations 10 days before the billing date and states all fees are non-refundable.
- Med Spa Oversight states the current billing period is not refunded when you cancel.
- Collaborating Docs guarantees your physician match within 14 days or your money back.
- ByrdAdatto states there is no termination fee for cancelling before the end of the term.
- LDG, PLLC states that if representation is terminated you may be responsible for unpaid fees.
- Compliancy Group's terms allow either party to terminate if a material breach is not cured within 60 days of written notice.
Anyone not named above publishes nothing on cancellation, so ask how much notice is required and what happens to fees already paid if you stop mid-engagement.
Can you try before you buy?
17 of the 22 offer a free demo, consultation or audit, which covers most of the category. A free trial is rare: Compliancy Group is the only vendor of the 22 that states one. Treat a free consultation as a scoping call: bring your questions and leave with numbers in writing.
What should you ask before you sign?
Proof is thin in this category: 2 of the 22 publish a case study with a stated result. GuardianMD's names Hydrate IV Bar, which it says has grown to 26 operating locations across five states. Moxie's customer story states a customer scaled to $1M in annual revenue. Ask any vendor for results from a practice shaped like yours.
Then put these questions to everyone you consider:
- What is the total monthly cost for my state, my scope and my patient volume?
- Is there an initiation fee, onboarding fee or retainer, and how much is it?
- What is billed outside the membership or flat fee, and at what rate?
- What is the minimum term, how does it renew, and is any of the fee refundable?
- Who owns the consent forms, protocols, policies and contracts you produce for me? Get this in writing.
- If you will store patient records or exam documentation, will you sign a BAA?
Get the answers in writing, then compare the vendors in the Compliance & Legal Services category, where each one is scored on how much of this it publishes.
